Kobishiya Chube (Syun Kojima, Ryo Kojima)

Kojima Shoten is a paper lantern maker in Kyoto which was established in the early 19th century during the Edo period. Syun Kojima is the eldest son and Ryo Kojima is the second son born into the family that has traditionally made paper lanterns using the “jibari” method. In 2011, the Kojima siblings revived the business name “Kobishiya Chube” which was the initial name of the lantern maker; under this name, they are offering new types of lanterns that incorporate fresh ideas.
