Using a technique of morphing collage, I have created a work that combines the "Urusasa"of Tokyo, which was lost during the era of isolation, with memories of a city that changes its shape and mixes irregularly every time I think of it. In the solitary life that seemed to rust away body and soul, some things change, some things stay, and a new world is woven between the past scenes connected by boundary lines and the urban landscape that exists here and now.
Shimura was born in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa. After working in world travel and business development, he enrolled in the graduate program at IAMAS (Institute of Advanced Media Arts and Sciences). He is pursuing a story of humanity based on the themes of “N-derivation of memory in a simulated space” and “Urusasa (loudness).”
