Introducing Tokyo Midtown’s twentieth public artwork, away from painting [Mountain of Stones]. We hope you’ll appreciate this new public work, which carefully considers the use of light.

ARTISTS

Kazuhiro Ishiyama

Ishiyama is an artist who was born in 1981 in Yamagata Prefecture. In 2008, he received a master’s degree in Intermedia Art from Tokyo University of the Arts. Using photography, he creates two-dimensional works grounded in the history of painting. In recent years, he has exhibited works as part of the exhibition 10 Years of the Shuou Foundation Award for Art Studies Abroad, and Now: 2006–2015 (2019, Okayama Prefectural Museum of Art) and the Japan Pavilion at the Venice Biennale’s International Architecture Exhibition (2016, in collaboration with Shingo Masuda + Katsuhisa Otsubo); notable prizes include the Grand Prix at the Best of the Best TMA Art Awards (2018) and an Honorable Mention at PX3 (2012).
