Tokyo City View and Sky Deck is now temporaily closed for renovation work. It is scheduled for reopening on April 29, 2015.
In Europe between the 19th and 20th centuries, the aestetics of "Simple forms" were rediscovered, having a significant impact in such areas as industrial products, architectural design and arts. Such simple and beautiful forms within them are also found in nature and in many of the world's traditional cultures.
The exhibition brings together around 130 of these “simple forms” from around the world, and across the ages, presented in 9 sections. It will offer a panoramic view of a timeless, universal aesthetic, showing the geographical spread and historic links of that aesthetic from prehistoric objects to dynamic, cutting-edge installations by contemporary artists.
To mark its reopening following extensive renovation, the first joint exhibition by Centre Pompidou-Metz and Fondation d’entreprise Hermès comes to Japan. We have reconfigured the exhibition plan and added to the exhibition content, making the Tokyo show a unique Mori Art Museum presentation.
