Applications Overview


Content of Proposed Projects

A: Installation (Exhibition), Music, Performance, Others

There are no conditions on type of project (for example, installation, music, performance, etc.). Applicants are free to plan their project in any way they choose to be presented on the streets of Roppongi during Roppongi Art Night 2025.

Projects ineligible for inclusion:

  • Projects that have missionary purpose religious or political advocacy
  • Projects that have a purpose of the provision of contributions to a particular charity
  • Projects that have a purpose to sale exhibits or products
  • Projects that have a purpose to advertise a specific group or corporation, etc.
  • Projects with eating and drinking
  • There is a possibility that safety cannot be ensured at the time of implementation
  • In accordance with laws, regulations and public order and morals

*The programs will fundamentally be free of charge. However, any participation or admission fees collected from visitors shall revert to the Roppongi Art Night Executive Committee.

B: Video Works

We are looking for live-action, CG-generated, animated or other types of video artwork content that features music, theater, dance and/or performance.
Please submit a previously unreleased video work that is no longer than 15 minutes.
Preferably, the content should be in either Japanese or English.
The content is scheduled to be streamed on the YouTube channel “Roppongi Art Night Digital【RAN TV】.”

Eligible Applicants

Individuals or groups who are able to exhibit or present their projects during the Roppongi Art Night 2025 development period. There are no conditions related to applicant age or career history.
*Applicants are required to undergo a selection interview.
*When applying, applicants are required to confirm and submit the Statement of Consent.

    * Please include any requests regarding the venue where the project will be exhibited or presented.

* Includes all costs of transporting, exhibiting, removing of works.
* All costs up to the performance are included.
* After completion of the screening and selection process, production costs will be discussed individually with applicants to a final budget set.
* Roppongi Art Night Executive Committee holds the ownership rights of newly commissioned artworks whose production cost is covered by this project.

B:Video works

  • A flat rate of 100,000 yen

Selection Criteria

Criteria includes the originality of the project, how it combines art with the city of Tokyo, the feasibility of the artwork, and the project’s ability to include the participation of local residents.
The content of the proposal must be relevant to the mission of Roppongi Art Night.

<Mission statement>

Roppongi Art Night is an art extravaganza staged in the district of Roppongi. The event proposes a pioneering model for urban development as well as a lifestyle that celebrates the enjoyment of art in our everyday lives.
Presenting contemporary art, design, music, film, and performances, Roppongi Art Night offers an extraordinary experience. Launched in March 2009, the event is growing every year.

Duties of the Planner (Applicant)

  1. Determining and coordinating with individuals associated with the works to be exhibited (artists, producers, performers, contractors/operators, etc.)
  2. Cooperating in public relations activities organized by the Roppongi Art Night Executive Committee
  3. Creating a plan for installing, managing, implementing, disposing and controlling the project at the venue before and on the day of the event
  4. Attending meetings and events as requested by the Roppongi Art Night Executive Committee, such as planning and production meetings
  5. Submitting substantiating documents
  6. Tasks required for the project other than those listed above

Duties of the Roppongi Art Night Executive Committee

  1. Providing for free of charge a venue for implementation of a program
  2. Publishing information in materials produced by the Roppongi Art Night Executive Committee
  3. Bearing production costs (with an upper limit on the amount and restrictions on the use of funds)

Must arrive by Sunday, May 18, 2025
*Form submissions will be accepted until 17:00.
*We will e-mail you the results of our selection process in late June 2025. Please check your e-mail.

Application Documents

A: Installation (Exhibition), Music, Performance, Others Applications will be accepted via the application form or by e-mail (courier service is also acceptable).

*Please send detailed project materials to the secretariat address by e-mail or post (courier service is acceptable).
To send large files, you can also share and submit them with a large-capacity transmission service such as online storage.
*We do not accept carry-on or three-dimensional objects.
*Submitted materials will not be returned.

B: Video works Applicants are asked to fill out and submit an application form.

Please submit your video work to us via YouTube as shown below.

  1. Set the YouTube privacy settings for the video to “Unlisted.”
    *Make sure that the video is not available to anyone except for the Open Call Project jurors.
  2. Enter the link to your video in the application form.

If your work has been selected for inclusion in our project, please deliver your data by means of a file transfer service, online storage or a similar service. Note that the Open Call Secretariat will add a common title to the beginning of all video content that is to be used.

The required data formats are shown below.

  • Video formats: QuickTime (.mov) or MP4 (.mp4)
  • Codec: QuickTime format/Apple ProRes or MP4 format/H264
  • Resolution (aspect ratio): 1080p (16:9)
  • Frame rate: unspecified (29.97 fps recommended)
  • Target bit rate (Mbps): greater than 10Mbps but less than 100Mbps.

Handling of Personal Information
Personal information acquired via applications to participate in Roppongi Art Night will not be used for any purpose other than management of the event by the Roppongi Art Night Executive Committee.
