This live painting event pairs the up-and-coming artist Aki Kondo with the veteran artist O JUN. It takes place at 9 p.m. on Friday, October 21st. Witness the chemical reaction caused by these two artists who have different styles and backgrounds.

ARTISTS

Aki Kondo

Born in Hokkaido in 1987, she currently resides in Tokyo. After her debut in 2012, she has continued to present her unconventional artworks and performances in and out of Japan. Her wide-ranging activities include directing and producing a short film, “Hikari,” created by combining oil-painted animation with live action, as well as painting the ceiling and the walls of a guest room, Otafuku Room, in Park Hotel Tokyo, and a live painting session at NF#3 supporting DJ Ichiro Yamaguchi of Sakanaction. Her solo exhibition at the Daiwa Foundation is now running in London.

O Jun

Born in Tokyo in 1956. He received a master’s degree from Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts. He lived in Spain from 1984 to 1985, in Germany from 1990 to 1994, and in Argentina in 2007. Although focused on painting, his work also includes performance and live drawing, exploring the act of making a picture in Japan and overseas. His recent solo exhibitions include “Recent Works 27” at the National Museum of Art, Osaka, “Kakuco” at Fuchu Art Museum in Tokyo, and “A dove flying away, I am surprised” at Mizuma Art Gallery in Tokyo.
