ARTISTS

Peter McDonald

Born in Tokyo in 1973, he currently resides in London. He treats the act of painting as a kind of performance. In 2002, while making portraits of performers, he started to create figures with oversized heads. His colorful paintings are filled with pop or semi-abstract figures, inspired by everyday locations such as airports, schools, hair barbers, and cafes, as well as the scenes where historical painters such as Matisse and Fontana worked on their art. In 2008, he received the prestigious John Moores Painting Prize in the UK.
