English Guided Tour: A Sensory Journey through Time
This is a walking tour in English aimed for people visiting the event from overseas or living in Japan with different cultural backgrounds. In this tour, we will walk around the Roppongi area and look at the many artworks in the city, and as we walk, we will also talk about them together. Amongst AI and other new technological advancements, the tour is a chance to experience artworks with your own senses, sometimes physically! With this year’s Roppongi Art Night focus on Korean culture, so we will also dive into its culture as well. Come walk, chat, and fully immerse yourself in the artworks!

英語ガイドツアー：感覚で旅する六本木の時層
海外からきた人や、いろいろな文化を持ちながら日本に住んでいる人向けに、英語を使って作品をめぐるツアーを実施します。ツアーでは、六本木のまちを歩きながら、まちの中にある作品を見ると同時に、作品について語り合います。AIが発達する昨今、リアルに作品を体感するために、感覚を研ぎ澄ましながら作品を見ていきます。韓国文化に焦点をあてた今年の六本木アートナイトにちなみ、ツアーでは韓国文化にも触れていきます。歩きながら話しながら、身体ごとアート作品に出会いましょう！
① English Guided Tour: A Sensory Journey through Time｜
September.26 (Fri)
●Tour 1: Friday, September 26 from 5 pm to 6:30 pm
●Meet at 5 pm at “Maman” by Louise Bourgeois (the giant spider sculpture) at Roppongi Hills: Tour ends at 6:30 pm
●Participants: those who are able to speak in English (who have moved from abroad or those from diverse cultural background residing in Japan)
●Maximum number of participants per tour: 15 (Reservation required, first-come, first-served)
●日時：9/26（金）17:00～18:30
●スケジュール：17:00 六本木ヒルズ ルイーズ・ブルジョワ《ママン》（巨大クモの彫刻）下集合、18:30 解散
●対象：英語でお話しできる方（海外からお越しの方や日本にお住まいの異なる文化の方）
●定員15名程度（申込要・先着順）

●Tour 2: Saturday, September 27 from 7 pm to 8:30 pm
●Meet at 7 pm at “Maman” by Louise Bourgeois (the giant spider sculpture) at Roppongi Hills: Tour ends at 8:30 pm
●Participants: those who are able to speak in English (who have moved from abroad or those from diverse cultural background residing in Japan)
●Maximum number of participants per tour: 15 (Reservation required, first-come, first-served)
●日時：9/27（土）19:00～20:30
●スケジュール：19:00 六本木ヒルズ ルイーズ・ブルジョワ《ママン》（巨大クモの彫刻）下集合、20:30 解散
●対象：英語でお話しできる方（海外からお越しの方や日本にお住まいの異なる文化の方）

③ English Guided Tour: A Sensory Journey through Time｜

●Tour 3: Sunday, September 28 from 4 pm to 5:30 pm
●Meet at 4 pm at “Maman” by Louise Bourgeois (the giant spider sculpture) at Roppongi Hills: our ends at 5:30 pm
●Participants : those who are able to speak in English (who have moved from abroad or those from diverse cultural background residing in Japan)
●Maximum number of participants per tour: 15 (Reservation required, first-come, first-served)
●日時：9/28（日）16:00～17:30
●スケジュール：16:00 六本木ヒルズ ルイーズ・ブルジョワ《ママン》（巨大クモの彫刻）下集合、17:30 解散
●対象：英語でお話しできる方（海外からお越しの方や日本にお住まいの異なる文化の方）
●定員15名程度（申込要・先着順）
Notes / 注意事項
*The contents of all tours will basically be the same.
*This tour will be held in English; we welcome anyone regardless of nationality or English language level.
*All parts of this event will be held outdoors.
In rainy weather, the meeting place and time will not change, and the discussion part of the tour will be moved indoors.

※ディスカッションも含め、すべて屋外での実施となります。
雨天時は、集合時間・場所は変更なく、ディスカッションのみ、屋内で行います。

Naoto John Tanaka
Born in Tokyo, John graduated from the University of California, Davis with a BA in Art History and BS in International Agricultural Development, and worked at a multinational in Tokyo before enrolling in the GAP program (MFA) at the Tokyo University of the Arts (TUA), where he has continued to conduct research on its Toride campus, aiming to elucidate the interplay between personal/local histories and the overarching socio-historical contexts through research, communication, exhibitions, and archival work. John has frequented Roppongi since 2005, and was a regular at the Wendy’s back when it was just outside the subway exit (now relocated).
田中 ジョン 直人
東京出身、米国カリフォルニア大学デービス校で国際農業開発学と美術史を学んだ後、都内で大手メーカー勤務を経て、東京芸術大学大学院GAP専攻修了。現在は同大の取手キャンパスを筆頭に、個人史・地域史とマクロな社会史・人類史の接続点へ、リサーチ、発表や展示、そしてアーカイブで迫ってきた。六本木には2005年から通い続け、駅を出てすぐにあったウェンディーズ(現在は向かい側に移転)が特に好きだった。
